The effect of dietary fiber on blood cholesterol
levels has been a controversial subject. Many scientific studies have
established that the fiber in psyllium can lower serum cholesterol.
However, the decrease is modest and requires relatively high daily
intakes which are unacheivable in practise. Consuming psyllium fiber
cannot effectively reduce cholesterol and triglycerides alone. Fiberrific has an entirely different metheod of action. Fiberrific is broken down in the colon into acetic, propionic and butyric acid. Propionic acid has the ability to directly inhibit endogenous cholesterol synthesis by the liver. In essence, Fiberrific consumption slows down the extranous cholesterol produced by the liver, reducing the overall cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. .© Copyright 2003 Pure-le Natural |
